SMU Picks Up Verbal Commitment from Colorado Breast/IMer Elise Johnson

Greeley, Colorado’s Elise Johnson has announced her intention to swim for Southern Methodist University beginning next fall. She will join fellow verbal commits Annabelle Corcoran and Olivia Grossklaus in the Mustangs’ class of 2022.

“Extremely blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim D1 at Southern Methodist University next year. Thank you to everyone who helped me reach my dreams inside and out of the pool. I can’t wait to be a mustang! #ponyup”

Johnson is a senior at Greeley West High School, and the seventh-place finisher in the 100 breast (1:06.84) at the 2017 CHSAA Girls 4A State Championships in February. She also placed 15th in the 200 IM (2:13.86) and swam on Greeley West’s 200 medley and 200 free relays in prelims.

Johnson does her year-round swimming with Loveland Swim Club. Although she specializes in breaststroke and IM, she earned a slew of new best times across the board, both short-course yards and long-course meters, during her junior year of high school. These included SCY 50/100/200/500 free, 200 breast, 100 fly, and 100/200/400 IM, as well as LCM 200/400 free, 200 back, 50 breast, and 400 IM.

Top SCY times:

  • 100 breast – 1:05.84
  • 200 breast – 2:22.92
  • 200 IM – 2:11.86
  • 400 IM – 4:35.88
