DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU swimming and diving program volunteered for the 12th straight year at the Tour Des Fleurs race at White Rock Lake. The event features a 10k and 20k races for individuals of all ages and benefits the Dallas Arboretum.
Men’s head coach Eddie Sinnott stressed the great relationship the programs have with the organization, and how it’s a good service project for both the student-athletes and those who participate.
“We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from the runners and all those involved,” Sinnott said.
The men and women spent their Saturday morning helping runners hydrating by working the water stations throughout the event.
“This is a great organization to be involved with,” women’s head coach Steve Collins said. “It gives our program a great opportunity to complete community service and help support the Arboretum. Our athletes always enjoy attending.”
“We love this event because we get to cheer on fellow athletes and help out the Dallas community at White Rock Lake,” senior co-captain Madison Meyer said.
The women hold their annual intra-squad scrimmage on Friday at the A.R. Barr outdoor pool, while the men host their alumni event starting at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday.
