SMU Women Sweep First American Swimming And Diving Weekly Awards Of 2022

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s swimming and diving honors, for the competition week ending Sunday, January 16.

Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week

Ilektra Lebl * Grad * SMU

Lebl turned in four solo first-place swims for SMU in dual meet sweeps against North Texas on Jan. 14 and against conference foe Tulane on Jan. 15. Lebl won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:04.07 and the 1650 freestyle in 16:54.22 for the seventh-fastest showing of the season in the conference in the North Texas meet. Lebl added gold medal swims in the 500 freestyle (5:03.44) and the 400 IM (4:25.68, top-20 swim in the conference this season) against Tulane.

Women’s Diving Athlete of the Week

Nicole Stambo * Jr. * SMU

Stambo posted two event victories and three NCAA Zone scores for SMU in dual wins against North Texas on Jan. 14 and Tulane on Jan. 15. Stambo was the winner off the 1-meter board with a score of 307.20 points and added a runner-up 3-meter score of 321.05 points, both NCAA Zone scores, in the meet against North Texas. Stambo added a win and NCAA Zone score of 284.85 points in the 3-meter event against Tulane.
