Update: The NASA Wildcats, earlier Friday evening, also broke this record. Click here to read about their record-breaking swim.
Anybody who insists on believing that the YMCA National Championships can’t live up to their NCSA or USA Swimming equivalents shouldn’t look at the YMCA Long Course National Championship meet this week, because the Somerset Valley YMCA just broke the 15-18 National Age Group Record in the men’s 200 medley relay, posting a 1:44.00 on day 2 in the Georgia Tech pool.
Remember that whole mess about the 17-18 record being faster than the 15-18 record? Luckily, this swim cleaned up that little loophole. The Somerset boys were better than the 1:45.08 done by TIDE a few weeks ago, better than the 1:44.60 done by KING last weekend, and better than the 1:44.93 done by Las Vegas Gold a few decades ago.
Dylan Sali, Zack Warner, David Chung, and Brad Zdroik combined for the mark; splits didn’t show exactly what each one went, but we know they opened in 55.3, and closed in 48.70. That means that they made up about six-tenths on their first two legs, and another four-tenths on the old record on their last two legs.
Well CATS Aquatics
The more you know…:-)
What about CATS Aquatic Team boys at NCSA tonight?
They went 1:43.24
Let’s not forget the King Aquatic Club broke the record last weekend – 1:44.60,
