2025 SWEDISH GRAND PRIX

  • Friday, March 14th – Sunday, March 16th
  • Stockholm, Sweden
  • LCM (50m)
  • Entries/Results

The 2025 Swedish Grand Prix took over the weekend with both junior and senior swimmers from the host nation and beyond vying for World Championships-qualifying times to book their tickets to Singapore.

Among the mix of athletes was a 57-strong group from Swim England’s Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) program. They were particularly seeking benchmarks in order to qualify for next month’s Aquatics GB Championships, the World Championships Trials meet.

Key Results

Sophie Hansson was the top women’s 50m breaststroke performer, clinching the victory in a time of 30.74.

That shimmied under the World Aquatics ‘A’ cut of 30.75 needed to add her name to the Swedish roster for this summer’s World Championships.

Olivia Klint was next to the wall in 31.42 followed by Hanna Kareinen who hit 32.27.

Hansson now ranks 5th in the world on the season.

Hansson also took on the 100m breast where she beat the field by over one and a half seconds.

She notched a winning effort of 1:07.24, a season-best but outside the ‘A’ cut of 1:06.87. She still inserts herself into the list of the season’s top swimmers in the event, however, taking over slot #8.

On the men’s side, Erik Persson produced a time of 2:13.96 to take the men’s 200m breast. That was well off his personal best of 2:07.66 from 2021 as well as far removed from the ‘A’ cut of 2:10.32.

Additional winners included Thomas Verhoeven of the Netherlands topping the men’s 50m fly podium in 23.68 and Victor Johansson winning the men’s 200m free in 1:49.53.
