Mitchell Bone, who hails from Johannesburg, South Africa, has announced his verbal commitment to Greensboro College for 2022-23.
“I am very excited to announce my commitment to Greensboro College in Greensboro North Carolina where I will further my athletic and academic career. I thank my family for their support throughout my swimming career and for the faith shown in me by my coach, Lynne Stockton. A special thanks to Rick Paine of American College Connection. Without Rick believing in my potential in the swimming pool I would not have been blessed with the opportunity to compete with the Proud Greensboro Swimming Team.”
Bone swims for Redhill School in Sandton, Johannesburg and for the Electric Eels Swimming Club Mitchell is primarily a breaststroke swimmer. At the 2021 Swimming South Africa Regional Level 3 Championships in mid-March, he swam personal-best times in the 50 breast and 200 breast and qualified to swim for Central Gauteng Province at the Swimming South Africa Senior National Championships in April. There, he improved even further and finaled in the 100m breast (16th) and 200m breast (11th), and notched PBs in both events.

Greensboro competes in Division III’s Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Bone would have been The Pride’s top breaststroker in 2020-21. He would have scored in the top-8 of both the 100 breast and 200 breast at the 2021 ODAC Championships.
