As foreshadowed by our earlier report, the South Carolina AAA/AAAA State High School Swim Championships have indeed been postponed. Originally scheduled for Saturday, October 10th, both meets have been pushed back to the following Saturday, October 17th due to the massive flooding situation within the state and, specifically, Columbia.
Both meets are slated to be held at the Carolina Natatorium on the campus of the University of South Carolina, with the AAA scheduled for the morning and the AAAA set for the evening. According to the SCHSL website, the University’s facility is closed and not operational at the present time, warranting the change in schedule.
The SC High School League will continue to closely monitor the situation in the coming days.
*Note: Swimming is a ‘Fall Season’ sport within the state of South Carolina due to limited availability of indoor/heated pools for winter use.
