South Carolina Picks Up Verbal Commitment from Davis Arden Racing Team’s Paige Maynard

Vacaville High School senior Paige Maynard has verbally committed to join the Gamecocks starting with the 2015-16 season.

Maynard is a butterfly/backstroke specialist who swims with Davis Arden Racing Team. Her top times are:

100y fly: 53.93
200y fly: 1:58.92
100y back: 55.87
200y back: 1:58.59

These are four events where South Carolina is hoping to score points at the incredibly stacked SEC Championships. In 2014 the Gamecocks’ individual points came mostly from IM and breaststroke; about half the 15-member freshman class consists of freestylers, so Maynard fits nicely into their lineup.

Maynard won the 2014 CIF-San Joaquin Section title in the 100 fly and was runner-up in the 100 back. She holds Vacaville High School records in six events. In long course season she was a C-finalist in the 100 fly at Juniors, and was selected to participate in the CA-NV Section dual meet with the Itoman Swim Club of Japan.

Maynard also ran cross country her first two years of high school and qualified for the California state championship meet.
