South Dakota State’s Florand, Denver’s Badillo Named Divers of the Week

South Dakota State’s Connor Florand and Denver’s Cat Badillo were named the Men’s and Women’s Divers of the Week for their performances Oct. 29-Nov. 4.

MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK   
Connor Florand, South Dakota State 
Jr. // Forest Lake, Minn.
Florand garners his first career Diver of the Week honor after a pair of top-three finishes, including an event win, against Green Bay.  The junior won the three-meter dive with a score of 283.50, ranking third in the league.  He also posted a third-place finish in the one-meter with 250.95 points, the fifth-best league score this season.

Previous honorees: 10/15 – Doug Ogilvie, Western Illinois; 10/22 – Dustin Gens, South Dakota; 10/29 – Ross Edfort, Denver.

WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Cat Badillo, Denver
Fr. // Elizabeth, Colo.
Badillo captures her first career Diver of the Week award after setting an El Pomar Natatorium pool record in the one-meter dive to help the Pioneers defeat Air Force, 139-104.  The freshman diver won the one-meter with a league-best and pool record score of 274.28, which is also a NCAA Zone qualifying score.

Also nominated: Miranda Knipfer, Omaha; Olivia Olesiak, South Dakota State.

Previous honorees: 10/15 – Greysen Hertting, South Dakota; 10/22 – Greysen Hertting, South Dakota; 10/29 – Dana Gau, Denver.

Fun meet to watch. Air force was good but DU had some great swimmers. I was amazed at the new freshman diver Cat Badillo. Looks like she will be a winner for the school!!!!
