Washart also won the 1000 freestyle at the meet, hitting a 9:13.73, along with the 500 freestyle with a 4:28.38. Washart announced his commitment to Harvard in December 2020 and will join the team in the fall of 2021.

Matthew Styczen managed to pull off a solid double win for Blue Eagle Swim Team in the men’s 200 IM and 400 IM by posting a 1:48.67 and 3:54.03, respectively. That 200 IM for Styczen was an improvement upon the 1:49.22 PB that he swam in December 2019 and the 3:54.03 400 IM he swam was just off his 3:49.79 PB from back in 2019.

Germantown Academy Aquatic’s Landon D’Ariano was right behind Styczen in the 400 IM with his swim of 3:55.97 for silver while South Jersey’s Shane Washart collected bronze in a 4:02.41.

Also collecting gold for Blue Eagle, Patrick Gilhool swam a 49.35 100 butterfly to lead a solid field which included Brendan Cline‘s 49.87 for silver and Aaron Williams‘ 49.93 for bronze. Along with those 3 sub-50 swimmers, Evan Greer was a 50.06 for 4th place.

Greer improved upon his 4th place finish, however, in the 100 backstroke as he collected gold by nearly 2 seconds with a 48.79 to Matthew Lang‘s 50.45. Gary Wang rounded out the podium in a 50.63 while Alexander Hamill was 4th in a 50.71.

Nicholas Pezzella for South Jersey and Ryan Durkan for the Suburban Seahawks had a head-to-head battle in the 100 breast and touched only 0.13 seconds apart. Pezzella managed to get his hand on the wall first with a 55.45 while Durkan came in just after in a 55.57. Nikolas Short and Jake Wang weren’t too far off and touched in 3rd with a 56.28 and 4th with a 56.66 for South Jersey and the Suburban Seahawks, respectively.

Pezzella and Durkan also managed to top the 200 breast podium, as Durkan notched a 2:01.34 for gold and Pezzella was a 2:02.61 for silver. Just as he was in the 100 breast, Nikolas Short touched in third place with a 2:02.94.
