Speedo Joins The Fight To Protect Frontline Workers

Speedo, the world’s leading swimwear brand, has donated 2,500 Speedo Biofuse Rift Mask Goggles to SHIELD, a cooperative of charitable campaigns who are working around-the-clock to locate, create and distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontline health-workers in the UK.

The Biofuse Rift Mask Goggles, originally manufactured for swimming and triathlons will be repurposed and used by frontline workers. SHIELD will split the goggle donation across three distributor campaigns; Med Supply Drive UK, Heroes Support and Contractors Appeal to ensure the goggles can quickly reach those most in need.

Speedo USA has also donated 2,000 goggles to US hospital partners, via the Swim Across America organisation. In total 4,500 Speedo goggles have been supplied to frontline workers in the UK and USA to date, to help meet the growing demand for emergency PPE provision.

Many Speedo manufacturing partners across the world have also adapted their facilities and workstreams to manufacture PPE masks, visors and goggles supporting local initiatives for both the public and key workers.

Rob Hicking, Brand Director at Speedo said; “We hope our goggle donation can help those frontline workers putting themselves at risk in order to protect us. They are our heroes and as a brand we want to do anything we can to support them. We are proud to see our international network of suppliers and partners adapting and coming together to join the fight to protect our frontline workers, worldwide.”

Speedo manufactures technically advanced products for world-class athletes and swimmers of all abilities. As a purpose-driven brand, repurposing highly technical goggles to help tackle the urgent demand for PPE reflects the brand’s values, mission and passion for protecting the health and wellbeing of the communities in which it operates worldwide.
