LOS ANGELES — SPEEDO USA, a division of PVH Corp. (NYSE: PVH), today announced its first-ever, limited-edition Pride Collection in celebration of Pride Month and in support of LGBTQ rights, available now for pre-order exclusively on SpeedoUSA.com.
The collection is comprised of nine “rainbow-kissed” pieces, including goggles, suiting, caps and on-deck apparel featuring a multicolored Speedo logo, with some also including the phrase “No Matter Which Lane You Swim.” Pride Collection styles range from $14.99 to $69.
“Speedo USA fosters an inclusive environment in all areas of its business,” said Speedo USA President John Graham. “We are proud to bring that same spirit to our apparel offerings this month and connect athletes of all orientations with LGBTQ swim communities as we support Pride in June and beyond.”
In addition to launching this exclusive collection on SpeedoUSA.com, Speedo USA has created a landing page for consumers to find LGBTQ U.S. Masters Swimmers clubs and others clubs around the country, all of which will receive Pride Collection apparel (here). Speedo USA is a proud sponsor of LA Pride 2018, which will be held on June 10, and will also participate in the NYC Pride March on June 24 through the sponsorship of its parent company, PVH.
In the past, a rainbow was just that…a rainbow—many colors combined in a swatch…
I don’t see that there should be a problem with a suit hosting many colors… many of the Speedos already are multi-colored. So if it has a rainbow, it has a rainbow… the choice is up the the athlete. And if their team should choose to go with a rainbow somewhere on the uniform/suit, then it’s still up to the athlete to be a part of the team or not… would you choose to not be on a team just because of someone being different? Or would you want to be a part of a team, that represents everyone even their differences?
Not necessarily saying I’d leave your hypothetical team or encourage my kids to leave it, but leaving a team that required you to make a pro-LGBTQ statement by wearing a suit would not be leaving “just because someone is different.” It’s possible to remain respectful, but neutral on these issues.
What if the national team was forced to wear a rainbow speedo? It happened in women’s soccer evidently one of the players declined to be on the team because of it.
It makes me so happy that swim brands are doing this!! I love that they’re supporting the LGBTQ community!
Had a coach who is one of my favorite people make some comment like “if that were my kid…” talking about a male wearing a pink speedo. Hurt to hear.
Swimmers definitely toe the line as far as straight kids doing gay things. We are wearing almost nothing and are very close physically day in and day out. What do you expect? I hope we can all have compassion and understanding for all people considering our sport’s culture and where we come from.
“doing gay things” and describing it with stereotypes like “being very close physically and wearing almost nothing” also hurts to hear… Beautiful love speech but you would want to revisit and reevaluate most of your concepts.
People still believe in this stuff? Lmao
Care to elaborate?
Go home dlf
We should be supporting everyone. Too many kids taking their lives.
In what specifically?
