Evan Zhang, who hails from Great Falls, Virginia, has announced his intention to swim at the California Institute of Technology beginning next fall.

Zhang is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) whom he represented at the Virginia Class 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships. He won the 50 free (21.12) and was runner-up in the 100 breast (57.04), helping THJSST win the 2021 VHSL overall 5A team title.
Zhang swims club for Dragon Swim Team. This spring he has notched lifetime bests in the LCM 50 free (24.65), 100 free (55.20), and 100 breast (1:08.50). In February, he picked up PBs in the 50 free, 200 free, and 100 breast. He would have made the A finals of the 50 free and 100 breast at 2020 SCIAC Championships. He’ll overlap two years with Reid Banciella and Joshua Lee, who scored in the B finals of the 50/100 free and the 100 breast, respectively, as freshmen in 2019-20.

Zhang will suit up for the Caltech Beavers with class of 2025 commits Jake Goldman, Jason Lin, and Pierre Zeineddin.
