Sprinter Anna Freyman Commits to the Naval Academy

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Anna Freyman, a current high school senior from Lake Mary, Florida, has committed to swim for Division I United States Naval Academy (Navy). Freyman graduated from Seminole High School in 2019 and has spent a post-graduate prep school year at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania as part of a United States Naval Academy Foundation scholarship. She will be joining Navy’s class of 2024.

Mercersburg Academy has been home to a number of Olympians and Olympic gold medalists in swimming, including Betsy Mitchell and SwimSwam co-founder Mel Stewart.

Before heading to Mercersburg, Freyman was a sprinter for Seminole Aquatics in Sanford, Florida. While at Seminole, Freyman was a 4 time SHS MVP awardee and finaled at the FHSAA State Championships 4 times as well. She also qualified for Junior Nationals twice.

At Mercersburg under coach Glenn Neufeld, Freyman was a finalist at Easterns in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay. At the 2020 Florida Swimming Senior Long Course Championships, Freyman placed 1st in the 50 butterfly with a time of 29.43.

At the 2020 Patriot League Championships, the Navy women won their 9th-consecutive conference title in swimming & diving. Freyman’s best times in both the 50 free would have placed her 6th at last year’s Patriot League Championships, while her best time in the 100 free would have placed her in the B final. She’ll join a very deep Navy sprint group that returns all 4 A-finalists in the 100 free from that championship meet.

Best SCY Times:

  • 50 freestyle – 23.14
  • 100 freestyle – 51.24
  • 100 butterfly – 56.71

Six swimmers were given All-American recognition and three qualified for the NCAA DI Championships.

Freyman will begin her swimming career at the United States Naval Academy fall 2020.
