Sprinter Julia Miles Joins GW’s Class of 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Current high school senior Julia Miles of Vacaville, CA has verbally committed to George Washington University, an institution in the heart of Washington D.C with an NCAA Division 1 swimming program.

I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at George Washington University. Thank you to all my coaches and my family for making this possible. Raise High!!

Miles represents DART Swimming in club competition, where she is a 2021 Futures qualifier in the 50, 100, and 200 free. Futures in Santa Clarita was also her most recent meet for DART, where she dropped a personal best in the 100 fly during a time trial by almost a second, along with swims just off her bests in the free events.

In high school competition, she competed for Vanden High School during her freshman year and made the 2019 CIF Section Championships for SAC-Joaquin. There, she won the B-final in the 50 free and helped Vanden’s 200 and 400 free relays to 32nd and 31st place finishes, respectively, dropping the fastest split on both relays. She also swam to a 22nd place finish in the 200 free.

Miles has now switched to Davis High School, where she recently competed in a dual meet in 2021 for them in the 200 and 500 free.

Top Times SCY:

  • 50 Free- 23.73
  • 100 Free- 51.71
  • 200 Free- 1:51.29
  • 500 Free- 5:04.61

George Washington University belongs to the Atlantic-10 Conference, where they compete against fellow mid-major schools such as the University of Richmond, Duquesne University, and Davidson College, who made up the team podium during the 2021 edition of the A-10 conference meet. GWU was fourth by under 100 points.

Miles will slot nicely into GWU’s sprint group, which upon her and the class of 2026’s arrival should consist of about seven women sub-24 in the 50 free. It is a similar story in the 100 free, with around five women sub-52. She should also be in the mix for a leg in any of the free relays, as her 50 up to the 200 could replace the slowest leg on all of the 2021 A-10 Championship free relays for the Colonials.

She will suit up for GWU’s class of 2026 alongside fellow sprinters Phoebe Wright and Julia Fifer, as well as distance pickup Ava Topolewski.
