Sprinter Katherine O’Shea Commits to Bucknell University

Katherine O’Shea from Bolton, Massachusetts, will graduate from Lincoln-Sudbury High School next spring and join the Bucknell University Bison in the following fall. “The minute I got to Bucknell I loved everything about it. I loved the swimmers, coaches and how hard they work everyday. I’m looking forward to becoming a member of The Patriot League.”

O’Shea has been a member of the Patriot Swim Club in Acton, MA, since 2007, where she swims under coach Jeff Johnson. During the 2014-2015 high school season she helped lead her team to Massachusetts D1 State Championship. She is looking forward to her senior year of high school season and defending their championship title. “I’m hoping in this upcoming high school season we can hold our winning streak in the 200 free relay and go 4 years as undefeated state champs in that event.”

Here is a list of O’Shea’s best times:

  • 50-yard freestyle: 24.11
  • 100-yard freestyle: 52.23
  • 200-yard freestyle: 1:53.71
  • 100-yard backstroke: 59.49
  • 200-yard backstroke: 2:10.47
Since March 2014, O’Shea has dropped over a second in her 100-yard freestyle and her best time from February 2015, would of given her a sixth place finish in the B final of the 2015 Patriot League Championships. At Bucknell, she will swim under head coach Dan Schinnerer, who was named the conference’s 2013 Women’s Coach of the Year.
