For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Nick Toepfer of the South Shore YMCA Stripers in Massachusetts has verbally committed to the LSU Tigers for fall 2021.

TOP TIMES (SCY)

  • 50 free – 21.18
  • 100 free – 45.43
  • 200 free – 1:41.30
  • 100 back – 49.96
  • 200 back – 1:49.35

At the 2019 YMCA LC Nationals last summer, Toepfer swam to a third-place finish in the 200m back (2:06.67). He also touched sixth in the 100 back (58.85) and seventh in the 100 free (53.13). This past winter, he won a title at the 2019 New England Senior Championships in the 100 back.

LSU had breakout freshman star Brooks Curry (19.3/41.8/1:32.4) lead their sprint group last season, but the Tigers were not incredibly deep behind him. They’ll get 49.6/1:47.2 SCM freestyler Joel Thompson this coming season in their class of 2024, though.

Toepfer joins Brendan Hausdorf and Gavin Rogers in LSU’s class of 2025.
