St. Ambrose Anounces Miecznikowski as New Coach

St. Ambrose has announced that Rob Miecznikowski will lead the school’s newly-developed swim and diving team.

“It is an extreme honor to be taking the head men’s and women’s swimming and diving position at St. Ambrose University,” said Miecznikowski. “I am looking forward to creating a positive environment where our student-athletes can excel both in the classroom and in the pool.”

Miecznikowski served as the head girls’ coach at Iowa City West High School from 1999-2015 and the boys’ coach since 2001. While with IC West, he won three District/Regional Coach of the Year awards (2012, 2014, 2016) and is a nine-time Mississippi Valley Conference Coach of the Year.

Congratulations, Rob! All us former Waterloo Sharks are proud of you. Don’t think Coaches Sullivan, Dutton, or Ross ever thought any of us would rise to your level of coaching. What a handful we were as age groupers! And, now, we are the coaches and swim parents. What goes around, comes around. Best wishes to you in all your future endeavors!
