St. Bonaventure’s men’s swimming and diving team has earned the designation of a Scholar All-America Team from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the spring semester.
The recognition is a result of the Bonnies’ academic performance last semester – a team Grade Point Average of 3.03.
To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the spring semester. This is the fourth consecutive year the Bonnies have been honored in at least one semester.
St. Bonaventure combines its academic success with remarkable achievements in the pool. The Bonnies placed second at the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2015, the program’s 17th year in a row of finishing either first or second in the conference.
“Swimmers and divers devote incredible time and effort into their sport, and it’s evident that that discipline carries over into the classroom,” CSCAA executive director Joel Shinofield said. “This shows that across the board, our coaches and teams are serving the mission of their universities and athletic departments.”
The Bonnies are coached by Sean McNamee, who over his 23 seasons has led St. Bonaventure to five Atlantic 10 championships.
