St. Bonaventure Men Look to Repeat at Colgate Invitational

Friday, Oct. 11 – 3:00 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 12 – 10:00 a.m.
Colgate University – Hamilton, N.Y.

The St. Bonaventure University men’s swimming and diving team travels to Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. for the Justin Jennings Memorial Invitational. The meet begins on Friday with the first session beginning at 3:00 p.m. The second session will start at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The Bonnies are looking to repeat as champions of the invite after finishing in first place last season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies opened the 2019-20 season against Penn State this past Friday, scoring multiple individual victories but falling by a team score of 192-145. SBU was led by senior Hylton Collinson who brought home a first-place finish in the 100-breaststroke (59.42), along with a victory in the 200-IM (1:58.64). Junior Tjaard Krusch had a strong effort as well, bringing home first in the 50-breaststroke (23.81), and another in the 100-backstroke (51.80). Senior Guido Balderrama earned himself a victory in the 100-butterfly. The Brown and White took the top six finishing spots in the 100-butterfly and 100-backstroke, the top five finishes in the 200-IM, and the top three spots in the 100-breaststroke and 100-freestyle relay.

ABOUT COLGATE
Colgate enters Friday’s meet after suffering a 225-61 loss to UMass to open the season on Oct. 5. The Raiders’ day was highlighted by a pair of top-three finishes. Noah Zeigler came in third in the 400-IM with his time of 4:30.68. Zach Duthie also claimed a third-place finish when he crossed the line at 2:09.57 in the 200-fly. Ian Flowers was fourth in the event with a time of 2:11.87. The Raiders finished 10th in the Patriot League Championships last year.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies are off until Saturday, Nov. 2 when they will compete in the Atlantic 10 Invitational. The meet will take place at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio and will conclude on Sunday.
