St. Bonaventure Swimming Ink 4 to 2015-2016 Season

St. Bonaventure Women’s swimming coach Krista Carlson announced that Katherine Craig, Adele Ferris, Francis Erney and Rachel Taylor have all signed National Letters of Intent to enroll at St. Bonaventure University and join the Bonnies Women’s swim team beginning in the fall of 2015.

Adele Ferris | Lansing High School

Adele is a three year state participant and was MVP of her varsity team in 2012. She was a Section IV Champion eight times and an IAC all-star three years in a row. Adele was also named captain of her varsity team her senior year of high school.

Out of the pool, she is the Class of 2015 President and a member of National Honor Society.

Coach Carlosn’s thoughts: Adele is going to come in and make an immediate impact on our team. She has great versatility, a strong swimming background and work ethic that will really contribute to our team at conference.”

Katherine Craig | Council Rock High School North

Katherine is a senior at Council Rock North where she qualified in the 2014 spring and
summer YMCA Nationals and PIAA districts and states. Voted 2nd team and received distinguished honors all of her junior year.

Coach Carlson’s thoughts: “Katie is going to assist our team in the sprint freestyle events, an area any teams is always looking to add more depth in. Katie’s great attitude will help push our team to new heights in practice and competition”

Frances Erney | Abington High School

Francis is currently a senior at Abington High where she was a PIAA District 1 SOL National Division Champion of the 500-yd freestyle. Represented Abington HS at PIAA District 1 Championship Meet swimming both the 200-yd IM and 500-yd freestyle. 1st Team All-Conference. Current 2015 Speedo Sectional Qualifying Times in the 100-yd Backstroke and
the 400-yd IM.

Coach Carlson’s thoughts: “Frances comes from a top notch swim club and area. She is going to be training with a solid group of girls in our mid distance group and will help make this team better”

Rachel Taylor | Fairview High School

Rachel is currently a senior at Fairview where she holds school records in the 100-yd backstroke, 200-yd medley relay swimming the backstroke leg, and the 200-yd freestyle relay. She has been named 1st team All-State three times and has been a District X
Champion five times. Rachel has medaled at the PIAA State Championship Swim Meet for the
past two years.

During her high school career she was District X champion is the 100-yd backstroke as well as a 16th place finish at states. She was also a part of the 200-yd medley and freestyle relays that both finished fourth at the state meet.

Coach Carlson’s thoughts “I am really excited to see what Rachel can do during her career at Bonas. She will be swimming primarily sprint freestyle and backstroke and is going to make us
a stronger team in those events”

Coach Carlson’s thoughts on the class as a whole “These four women are a really solid group of swimmers and will help our team in areas that will be left vacant by our graduating senior class. I am very excited to see what they can do during their time here at Bonas and how we as a team can improve”

This will be the first recruiting class that head coach Krista Carlson will be bringing in. She is currently in her first year coaching the Brown and White.
