- St. Bonaventure, N.Y. – Reilly Center Pool
The St. Bonaventure University women’s swimming team kicks off its 2021-22 season with a dual meet against St. Francis (PA) Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center Pool. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m.
BACK IN THE POOL
The Bonnies are set to return to the pool for the first time since last season’s Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championship last April. Saturday will be the first of three home meets for the women’s swimming and diving team, hosting Binghamton Jan. 22 and Gannon Jan. 27 at the RC Pool.
The Brown and White return 16 members of last year’s team and welcome seven newcomers to the roster this season. Leading the way for the Bonnies is senior Rachel Kimmel. A native of Fort Loudon, Pa., Kimmel is a seven-time Atlantic 10 medalist, including a gold medal in last year’s 100-breaststroke. She holds the St. Bonaventure program records in the 100 and 200-breaststroke.
Other seniors returning for head coach Skip Nitardy are Claire Schaef, Zanre Oberholzer, Ivana Janssen and Emerson Graham. Schaef currently holds the Bonnies program records in the 1000 and 1650-freestyle. Oberholzer is a member of the record-holding 200-medley relay team that includes classmate Kimmel. Janssen and Graham have each competed at the three previous A-10 Championships.
