St. Bonaventure Women Open Season With 120-102 Victory Over St. Francis (PA)

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women’s swimming and diving team opened its 2021-2022 season on a high note Saturday afternoon with a 120-102 victory against St. Francis (PA).

Winning for the Bonnies were Rachel Kimmel, Halle Myers,  Kylie McKee and Amy O’Rourke.

The Bonnies started off the afternoon with a victory in the first event as the team of Zanre Oberholzer, Kimmel, Maggie Metcalf, and O’Rourke were able to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.38.

It was one of three victories for Kimmel.

Kimmel was able to capture a victory in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:11.35 as well. Kimmel secured another victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.75. Emerson Graham had a time of 1:10.55, finishing third in the event.

Freshman Kylie McKee had a very impressive showing in her first collegiate meet by winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 202.65 and 201.60.

In the 1000-yard freestyle, senior Claire Schaef was able to place second with a time of 10:58.36.

Freshman Ellie Kraus was able to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 2:00.09.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Halle Myers won with a time of 24.78, while sophomore Paige Kasemsuwannakaeth placed third with a time of 25.42.

In the 100-yard butterfly sophomore Amy O’Rourke finished second with a time of 59.60.

Following her second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, O’Rourke was able to capture a victory with a time of 55.00 in the 100-yard freestyle.

Senior Zanre Oberholzer placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.49, while junior Allison Lenda finished third with a time of 1:00.62.

Schaef touched the wall with a time of 5:22.02 in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing third in the event.

St. Bonaventure capped off the afternoon with a victory in 200-yard freestyle relay from the team of Kasemsuwannakaeth, Kraus, Lenda, and Myers with a time of 1:39.94.

The Bonnies’ next meet will take place in Hamilton, N.Y. for the Colgate Invitational on Oct. 8-9.

Freshman Aurem Pifarre-Planes won a pair of events and three other Red Flash swimmers recorded event wins, but the Saint Francis swimming team fell to St. Bonaventure, 120-102, Friday at the Reilly Center Pool.

Pifarre-Planes captured victories in the 1000 freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, while two more freshmen Sara Blanco and Inde Patterson secured event wins along with senior Amelia Laudenbach.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Pifarre-Planes took first in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:50.38 and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:17.10.

Blanco had a first-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle in a speedy time of 1:58.70.

Patterson also had a first place finish in the 100 yard fly in a time of 59.50.

Laudenbach was able to capture a win in the 100 yard backstroke with a quick time of 59.42.

 UP NEXT

Saint Francis won’t be in action again until Saturday, October 16th when they travel to face Long Island.
