NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – St. Bonaventure University men’s swimming junior Maxwell Murray has been selected as Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday afternoon.

This past Saturday against Gannon Murray set a school and pool record in the 1000-freestyle with a time of 9:16.31, breaking the mark posted by George Eversmann when he swam a time of 9:28.08 in 1997.

The Penfield, N.Y. native scored another victory in the 500-freestyle swimming a time of 4:33.02 and registered a runner-up in the 100-backstroke (50.30).

His performance Saturday afternoon propelled the Bonnies to a 181-119 triumph over the Golden Knights in their final dual-meet of the season.

This marks his second selection this season as A-10 Performer of the Week as he earned the honor on Oct. 11.

Murray and the Bonnies look to use this momentum when they travel to the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio to compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships. The four-day conference championship competition will begin Wednesday, Feb. 15 and conclude Saturday, Feb. 18.
