St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State University men and women’s swimming and diving coach, Jeff Hegle, announced his team captains for the 2014-15 season.
Representing the women’s team as captains next season will be seniors Abby Rasmussen (Sauk Rapids), Kellyn Craig (Denver, Colo.), Caitlyn Beecher (Madison, Wis.), and Chandler Keating (Glen Carbon, Ill.). Addy DiCristina (Grand Forks, N.D.) will serve as the junior captain.
The women’s team completed a successful season this year, placing 25th at the NCAA Championships and winning the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference meet for the second straight year.
The 2013-14 men’s team captains include seniors: Ethan Fisher (Lawrence, Kan.), Jake Stoll (Gilbert, Ariz.), Alex Bryson (Appleton, Wis.), Landon Ostlie (Jamestown, N.D.) and Aaron Rooney (Alexandria).
The St. Cloud State men’s team placed 15th at the NCAA Division II Championship as Alex Bryson placed 4th in the 1650 free and 7th in the 500 free. Diver Tyler Magalis placed third on both the one meter and three meter boards.
“I am thrilled to announce next year’s captains,” said Hegle who just completed his 13th season as head coach of the Huskies. “We are bringing together a great combination of returning captains and new captains that will continue to provide excellent leadership for the upcoming season.”
The Huskies will open the 2014-15 season on Sept. 24 and 25 with their annual intersquad meet followed by traveling to the University of North Dakota on Oct. 3rd and the Alumni Meet on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Home meets are scheduled to take place on Oct. 17 and 18 against MSU Moorhead and Northern Michigan (women). The Huskies will host the University of South Dakota on Friday, Nov. 21 and the University of Wisconsin- LaCrosse on Jan. 16.
