Women’s Recap

Brooklyn Heights, NY- The Wagner women’s swimming & diving team came out victorious for the second straight day, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn, 169-70 at the SFC Aquatic Center.

Reigning NEC Prime Performer Annie Jencova won the 100 Yard Butterfly for the second straight day, touching the wall at 59.34. Shamiya Guirre posted a first place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 58.89. Teammate Bree Anderson was not far behind in the event, touching the wall second at 1:00.79.

The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team also hit the wall first for the second straight day, as Jencova, Guirre, Abbie Hassell, and Allie D’Allegro put together a time of 1:41.91. Finishing right behind the foursome in second place was Wagner’s Kate WilkersonHannah MuroMary Tsianaka, and Madeleine Delore with a time of 1:42.08.

Wilkerson had an individual win in the 200 Yard Freestyle, touching the wall at 2:00.27, just .71 before the next swimmer touched. Also with an individual win was Hassell, who finished with a time of 25.22 in the 50 Yard Freestyle.

The Green & White posted a clean sweep in the 200 Yard Indidvudal Medley, led by Ellie Eastwood at 2:10.56. Clocking in next was Bree Anderson at 2:14.14 and then Maile Mora at 2:15.25. Eastwood took another individual victory in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:06.25.

In the 3 Meter Diving event, Meliti Efthimiou won with a score of 241.65. The Athens, Greece native won the event with 35 points to spare.

The Seahawks are back in action when they return home to the Spiro Sports Center for the second time this season for a meet with LIU on Friday, February 4 at 1:00 p.m.

Men’s Recap

Brooklyn Heights, NY- The Wagner men’s swimming & diving team was in the pool for the second straight day, facing St. Francis Brooklyn at the SFC Aquatic Center.

For the second straight day, reigning NEC Prime Performer Jack Leighton had a solid showing in the pool. The Lake Forest, CA native took first place once again in the 100 Yard Freestyle event with a time of 48.04. Leighton then competed in the 50 Yard Freestyle, finishing in second place with a time of 22.17.

Tristan Lee had a pair of second place finishes on the afternoon. The freshman touched the wall second in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:04.73 and then in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:02.58.

Nathan Seaney competed in the 1 and 3 Meter Diving events, winning both of them. The Bakersfield, CA native posted a score of 152.60 and 152.65 in each event, respectively.

The Green & White lost the meet to the Terriers, 148-71. The Seahawks are back in action when they return home to the Spiro Sports Center for the second time this season for a meet with LIU on Friday, February 4 at 1:00 p.m.

Men’s Recap

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – The St. Francis Brooklyn men’s swim team kicked off their 2022 slate with a home dual meet with rival Wagner on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers honored their veterans with Senior Day before the meet, and went on to secure the win over the Seahawks, 148-71.

Junior Benedek Lendvai continued his success this season with a pair of wins in back to back races. He secured the victory in the 1000y freestyle (9:51.54) and got right back in the pool to take first in the 200y freestyle (1:51.89).

The 50y freestyle has been Daniel Matheus Santos’s race all season, and he clinched another win in the event on Saturday with a 21.55 time.

Arthur Mango Quieroz picked up a win of his own, finishing the 100y backstroke in 54.24 seconds.

Reigning NEC Prime Performer Jedi Morland Janes added to the Terrier’s win total with a 4:46.02 time in the 500y freestyle.

SFBK took wins from two freshmen, Robbie Wagner and Uros Canic. Wagner won the 200y individual medley with a 2:01.71 time and Canic clinched the 100y breaststroke win, finishing in 1:00.61.

NEXT UP: The Terriers close out the regular season on Feb. 2 when they travel to the Bronx to face Fordham in the final dual meet of the year.

Women’s Recap

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – The St. Francis Brooklyn women’s swimming and diving teams returned to action on Saturday afternoon for the first home meet of 2022.

The Terriers kicked off the day with their Senior Day festivities before taking the pool against Wagner. The Seahawks would take the dual meet win, 169-70.

Mariajose Lopez continued her run as the team’s top swimmer, winning a pair of the events for SFBK. She placed first in the 1000y freestyle (10:44.53) and 500y freestyle (5:15.77).

In a dual meet best for Cassandra Zenon, the senior took second in the 100y freestyle (1:00.89).

Kristy Nagtzaam helped the cause with a pair of second place finishes; taking silver in the 50y freestyle (25.50) and 100y breaststroke (1:09.05).

A late charge earned Jenna Pearse a second place finish in the 200y freestyle (2:00.98).

NEXT UP: The Terrier women close out with the regular season on Feb. 2 with a dual meet at Fordham.
