St. Francis to Host St. Francis Brooklyn

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis swimming team opens up NEC action this weekend as it hosts St. Francis Brooklyn for a 1 p.m.meet on Saturday at Stokes Natatorium.

The Red Flash, led by Rory Coleman, welcomes the Terriers for the first home meet of the 2015-16 season.

This weekend, SFU is looking for their first victory of the season after competing in a tri-meet against Delaware and Georgetown last Saturday.

Sophomore Emma Karell (Norrtlje, Sweden/Tby Swim Club) was one of the top performers for the Red Flash, placing second in the 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:12.29 and third in the 200-yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:29.04.

Fellow sophomore Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) earned two Top Five finishes, placing third in the 500-yard Freestyle with a pace of 5:15.82 and fifth in the 1000-yard Freestyle with a time of 11:00.79.

Senior Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) finished fourth in the 100-yard Breaststroke, completing the race in 1:08.41, while Marisa Daly (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) placed fourth in the 200-yard IM with a pace of 2:17.65.

Jessie Reilly (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Upper St. Clair) completed the 50-yard Freestyle in 25.29 to finish fourth and the 100-yard Freestyle in 55.28 to finish fifth.

Karell, Lafferty, Reilly and Rogers combined in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, coming in second with a time of 3:41.38.

Last year, Saint Francis knocked off St. Francis Brooklyn, 137-66, in Brooklyn.
