The Stanford Cardinal have been on fire since Greg Meehan took over as the team’s new head coach, from their long course exploits, to recruiting, and their collegiate swims.
The Cardinal ran their dual meet record for the season to a perfect 10-0 with a 167-133 win over archrivals Cal in Palo Alto on Saturday, and our Carly Geehr was there to take in all of the action. See her full report from the meet here, watch Carly talk to Geehr above, and see an interview with two of the team’s stars below.
Cal coaches and athletes were not made available for video interviews at the meet.

Some usual swimswam naysayers will say you are too biased to make impartial interviews with Stanford coaches and swimmers. 😆
Great job.
Cal swimmers and coaches were not made available for video interviews. Why? Because they have lost or for another reason?
It looks like Greg Meehan is now a legitimate contender to lead a US women’s national team at world championships or olympic games. He’s one of the greatest young American coaches of the moment. His results speak for him.
It should be fun at Stanford in the next years, especially with their crazy good upcoming recruiting class.
Bobo, the Cal team specifically requested no video interviews – but text from the interviews I did with Teri and Celina are at the bottom of the full article on the meet: http://swimswam.com/stanford-women-overpower-cal-home-167-133/
I tried to be as impartial as possible! I do still bleed red… but that may be more biology than it is collegiate allegiance 😉
Great coach for the program and 2 well-spoken, fun girls. Congrats on the big duel meet win
