Stanford men’s coaches Ted Knapp, Scott Armstrong, and volunteer assistant Eugene Godsoe are on fire.
They’ve picked up their third verbal commitment of the day, this one coming from Liam Egan.
Egan, from Crimson Aquatics in Massachusetts, is a fantastic distance swimmer, bringing yet another new dimension to a very well-rounded Stanford class.
In yards, he’s been 4:24.33 in the 500 free, 15:12.8 in the 1650 free, and 1:38.6 in the 200 yard free.
But the Junior National Teamer really made a huge statement this summer, though, in qualifying for the Junior National Team and was the 18 & under champion of the 1500 free at the World Championship Trials (which is different than the Junior National Champion).
In long course, he’s been 3:54.63 in the 400 free and 15:33.79 in the 1500 free. Though long course isn’t swum in college, that 400 puts him in the top 5 long course distance recruits in the class of 2014.
