Press Release courtesy of the Pac-12

The Conference office announced today that Janet Hu of Stanford was named Pac-12 Women’s Swimmer of the Week and ARIZONA STATE’s Ashley McCool was voted Pac-12 Women’s Diver of the Week.

Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Janet Hu, SR, Stanford (Vienna, Va.)
Hu won seven events (four individual events and three relays) and set an Avery Aquatic Center record to help lead then-No. 3 Stanford to two Pac-12 dual victories. Hu’s four individual wins were in four different events and three different strokes. She won all four of her races in a 176-113 win over Arizona State on Saturday as she broke a two-year-old pool record in the 200 back (1:53.18), then won the 100 fly and helped Stanford to victories in both relays. A day prior, she helped the Cardinal defeat then-No. 20 Arizona (192-100) with a first-place finish in both of her individual races (100 back and 50 free) and the 400 free relay. Her time of 22.09 in the 50 free was just two-hundreths from the pool record held by Olympic gold medalist Simone Manuel.

Women’s Diver of the Week: Ashley McCool, FR, Arizona State (Tinley Park, Ill.)
McCool won three of four events on the weekend at then-No. 5 Cal and then-No. 3 Stanford. She set a new school record in the 3-meter on Friday (359.48) and re-set her own record on Saturday (362.20), garnering first place in both competitions. She also broke the five year-old 3-meter Arizona State record and set a new Stanford pool record in the 3-meter on Saturday. Her last first place finish came against Stanford in the 1-meter (316.35). She also placed second in the event against California (307.65).
