The start lists have been released for the men’s 4×100 medley relay, which will be swum during tonight’s finals at the 2015 FINA Junior World Championships in Singapore.
In the final relay event, a battle for gold looms between Russia and the USA. Both teams have a shot at the Junior World Record tonight, which currently sits at a 3:38.02 by Russia. Tonight, both teams will change up their relay swimmers from prelims.
Team USA will go with Michael Taylor on the backstroke leg, Reece Whitley on the breaststroke leg, Michael Andrew on the fly leg, and Maxime Rooney anchoring on the free leg.
They’ll be up against the Russian quartet of Roman Larin, Anton Chupkov, Daniil Pakhomov, and Vladislov Kozlov in that order.
With the advantage on paper in back and free, the USA will have to put together a good middle 200 to win. Chupkov has split a 59.74 breaststroke split this week, and Pakhomov threw down an incredible 51.33 fly split on that same relay.
Also of Interest, Brazil has opted to use Pedro Spajari as their anchor as opposed to Felipe Souza, who split 48.56 earlier this week. Spajari has consistently had the faster individual swims in the 100 free through prelims and semis, and will look to power Brazil to a medal.
Also looking for a medal, Australia will be anchored by Kyle Chalmers, who threw down a 47.68 split earlier this week.
