The Stevens Institute of Technology Department of Athletics has announced the promotion of Lindsay DeLaRosby to head men’s and women’s swimming coach.
DeLaRosby, who recently completed her fifth season as a member of the Stevens coaching staff, served as interim head coach during the 2016-17 season and was named Empire 8 Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year after guiding the Ducks to the UNYSCSA and Empire 8 championships for the fifth straight season. Under DeLaRosby’s guidance, men’s swimming earned 18 all-conference honors, including seven first team placements.
“Lindsay has played a critical role in our men and women’s swimming program over the last several years and her elevation to head coach on a permanent basis is very well-deserved,” Director of Athletics Russell Rogers said. “She combines a deep and thorough understanding of the sport of swimming with a work ethic that is second to none. More importantly, her commitment to our student-athletes and their overall campus experience has been demonstrated time and time again. I am thrilled to name Lindsay our head coach and look forward to working with her in the continual process of building a top notch swimming program.”
“I want to thank Athletic Director Russ Rogers and the Stevens Athletic Department for supporting me in my new role as Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach,” DeLaRosby said. “I am excited to continue to work with the amazing student-athletes here at Stevens. My goal for the team is to continue building on the past success of program and turning in high quality performances in the Empire 8 and at the National level. I want the swim team to be one that the Stevens community, student-athletes, parents and alumni are proud of.”
DeLaRosby arrived at Stevens in 2012 after a one-year stint as the first-ever head women’s swimming coach at Ferrum College in Virginia. Since arriving on Castle Point, the men’s and women’s swimming program has produced three national champions and the top team finishes in both men’s and women’s program history.
A 2005 graduate of St. Mary’s University, DeLaRosby earned her Master’s degree from Springfield College in 2010, while as an assistant coach for the Pride’s New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference championship-winning swimming programs.
