STONY BROOK, N.Y. – In its second meet in as many days, the Stony Brook swimming and diving team took home a win, 125-113, over St. Francis Brooklyn at University Pool on Saturday morning.

The Seawolves won seven of the 13 events and recorded a 1-2 finish in the 50 free, 200 back and 200 individual medleys to aid in the effort.

Highlights

  • Redshirt senior Michal Liberman (Rosh Haayin, Israel) won both of her individual starts in the 50 free (24.60) and 100 free (54.29).
  • She also ignited the Seawolves’ 200 medley relay (1:50.50) victory.
  • Freshman Reagan MacDonald (Ottawa, Ontario) also won both of her individual events, taking home wins in the 200 individual medley (2:12.98) and 200 back (2:07.10).
  • Freshman Maddy Edna (Chino Hills, Calif.) earned 13 points with a first and second place finish in the 200 fly (2:10.23) and 200 free (2:00.05), respectively.
  • Redshirt freshman Mia Sclar (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won her lone diving start, finishing first in the 1-meter (214.10).
  • Sophomore Stephanie Reiter (Howard Beach, N.Y.) finished inside the top three of both diving events, finishing second in the 3-meter (172.70) and third in the 1-meter (176.75).
  • Sophomore Emma Waechter (Lewiston, N.Y.) backed up Liberman with a second-place finish in the 50 free (25.99).
  • Sophomore Jessica Salmon (Rexford, N.Y.) added a second-place spot in the 200 individual medley (2:17.29).

STONY BROOK, NY – The St. Francis College Brooklyn women’s swimming & diving team was narrowly edged in head-to-head action against Stony Brook by a final score of 125-113 after strong effort in the pool.

Sophomore Kayla McKenzie had standout performances in both the 1M and 3M diving events. The Saskatchewan native took second place in the 1M with a mark of 207.20 and earned first place in 3M dive with a score of 175.15.

Sophomore Beatriz Gomes Angelo took first place in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:58.85. Swedish native Angelica Stark came in not too far behind her taking third place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.91.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Junior Ana Paula Montes de Oca had a strong showing for the Terriers as she earned a pair of first place finishes. Montes de Oca took first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:28.79 and later won the 500-yard freestyle as she touched the wall at 5:12.03. Additionally, she took second place in the 200-yard butterfly as she registered a time of 2:13.03.
  • Freshman Mariajose Lopez earned a pair of second place finishes as she placed right behind Montes de Oca in both the 1000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle. Lopez notched a time of 10:32.31 in the 1000-yard free and 5:12.97 in the 500-yard free.
  • Jovana Terzic earned a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM. She finished the race with a time of 2:18.78. She later took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.08.
  • Senior Fanny Stromstedt posted a strong first place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke posting a time of 2:27.19.
  • Carmen Botha took third place in the 200-yard backstroke. She posted a time of 2:17.99. Swedish sophomore Hanne Romstad competed in the 200-yard butterfly and recorded a time of 2:23.37, which landed her a spot in third place overall.
  • To finish off the meet, the 200-yard freestyle relay team took first place with a time of 1:42.08. The squad included Terzic, Lopez, Gomes Angelo, and Tina Childress.

The Terriers are back in action on Friday, December 6, as they travel to East Meadow, NY for the ECAC Winter Championships.
