It’s still about three weeks before USA Swimming and the European All-Stars’ deadlines to officially announce their full rosters of 20 men and 20 women for the 2013 Duel in the Pool in Glasgow, Scotland, but many swimmers have already confirmed their participation in this year’s meet.
With so many names coming in so sporadically, below we’ve collected all of the names who have confirmed their participation to us, either through press releases, public announcements, or personal notes. As more names come out, we will attempt to keep a running list at the bottom of each article so that we may all see how the teams stack up against one another.

Why would there be waiting on US athletes being invited or making a commit…is there a funding or subsidy issue or game theory over funds for the athletes? It just seems very odd there would be a gestation period of months for a roster to dribble in piece by piece. Is this an event national team members would really say no to?
Joel Lin – there are many National Teamers who we know have declined. Some because they’re in college, others like Ricky Berens for other reasons. Then they have to notify the new participants, and give those next people in line a few days to answer…and those ‘next people in line,’ the further down the list they go, are more-and-more likely to be college students.
THen in some regards it’s just typical swimming ‘hide the information’ stuff for no reason in particular.
well that’s a bit tantalizing…unless I missed an important tweet or something…Why is Ricky Berens not swimming at Duel in the Pool?
On a general note…I realize that this meet (schedule-wise) doesn’t fall at a perfect time for college swimmers…but why aren’t the professionals swimming these? I always thought it was a prestigious meet…?
Anonymous – I don’t know why Ricky isn’t swimming, but he told me a couple of weeks ago that he was sitting this one out.
