Summer Juniors Qualifier Karolina Bank Commits to Mizzou For Fall 2022

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Karolina Bank of Boulder, Colorado has verbally committed to swim at the University of Missouri. Bank is primarily a freestyle/breaststroke specialist.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Missouri!!!!🖤💛 I want to thank my teammates, family, and coaches for supporting me throughout this whole process! I cannot wait to be a part of the ZOU fam! Go Tigers 🐯!!”

Bank swims year-round with Elevation Aquatics. She recently competed at the 2021 Western Region Speedo Sectionals in Austin, Texas and notched new personal bests in the 100 free, 200 free, 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM. The highlight of her meet was qualifying for her first Summer Juniors (LCM) in the 100 breast (1:13.08).

Her best times in SCY are:

Event: Time
50 free 23.95
100 free 51.46
*200 free 1:48.73 (1:49.93)
100 breast 1:02.98
200 breast 2:17.70

*Since the 200 free was swum in Colorado, the 1:48.73 is an adjusted time based on the altitude.

Bank is also a rising senior at Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado. She recently competed at the 2021 CHSAA Girls 5A State Championships and competed in four events. She placed 2nd in the 200 free, 5th in the 100 breast, 2nd in the 400 free relay, and her team won the 200 free relay. Fairview High School finished 2nd overall at the Colorado State Meet.

Bank has achieved NISCA All-American status in 4 events, which recognizes the athletes that have achieved a Top-100 time in the nation for each event. Based on her performances from the CHSAA Girls 5A State Championships, she’s ranked in the 200 free (32nd), 100 breast (53rd), 200 free relay (8th), and 400 free relay (15th).

Bank has proven that she’s reliable on relays, which is an important attribute to have as a collegiate athlete. She has the following confirmed relay splits:

Event: Split: Meet:
50 free (200 free relay) 23.30 2021 Spring Speedo Sectionals
100 free (400 free relay) 50.24 CHSAA Girls 5A State Championships 2021
50 breast (200 medley relay) 28.37 2021 Spring Speedo Sectionals
100 breast (400 medley relay) 1:02.50 2021 Spring Speedo Sectionals

The University of Missouri is a Division 1 school and part of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). At the 2021 women’s SEC Championship, Missouri placed 7th out of 12 teams with 614.5 points. Bank’s best time in the 200-yard free was just outside scoring points in the C-Final.

Bank’s progression in high school, especially in the 200 freestyle, has been impressive. As a freshman in 2019, she was only 1:55.02 (1:56.22) in the 200 free. 2 years later, she’s dropped down to a 1:48.73 (1:49.93). If Bank can continue this trend, she’ll be a major threat when she arrives to Columbia, Missouri.
