That time sneaks him just ahead of the swim done by Kosuke Hagino earlier this week in Tokyo, though neither swam a time that would be expected to compete for gold in Kazan this year, though globally the event’s times progress has stalled as compared to where it appeared to be heading a few years ago.

The women’s 100 backstroke saw two women book tickets to the World Championships in sub-minute times, led by Fu Yuanhui in 59.41, with Chen Jie following in 59.78. Cheng Haihua took 3rd in 1:01.02.

The men’s version of the same race was also held on Saturday, where Xu Jiayu won running-away in 53.47.

The women’s 100 breast featured Shi Jinglin taking the victory in 1:07.03, and He Yun taking 2nd in 1:07.96.

Aswimfan:

Basically it was a great blunder for not updating the info about TMZ being listed prohibited as of 2014 by WADA in China ( Sun Yang swam in May) and only after June the info was transcended to the swimming communities and revised . So Sun Yang is being unfairly victimized and imagine what media and vested groups will grill these nincompoops(CHINADA) for their negligent and incompetency for ruining Sun Yang career and thus affecting their supremacy in pool at the Busan, Asian Games later. So a cover up for a great mistake is needed ( face saving and prevention of heads dropping)! Joker Dr.Ba claimed he wasn’t updated by CHINADA and assumed his position as physiotherapist at the… Read more »

Please provide the reference that DENIS Cotterell mentioned “he was let down by a nincompoop”. You seem to know an awful lot to then get a great coach’s name incorrect. Deflecting perhaps?

Justice Kang,

Why did the Chinese Swimming Federation backdated Yang’s ban and served it in secrecy, and why did the Chinese Swimming Federation broke the rule by taking Dr. Ba to the Asian Games while he was still serving the one year ban?

Since when Sun Yang had chronic heart problem and totally depended on TMZ to survive! Compared to a resurgent Dana Vollmer world recorder and gold medalist in 100M Fly in London 2012 had a worst record of heart problems (long QT) from young which equipped with a long defilliberator by the poolside during intensive training and emergency, Sun Yang case is peanut!.TMZ is a placebo and ill advised to take probably cardiprin is more effective. Prior to 2014, the hype of TMZ might be over-rated and probably you need a Stilnox to get over it.

If it is peanut, then why did WADA upgraded the ban of using Trimetazidine to PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES?

Sun Yang should consider himself he is not taking stilnox, otherwise he would not have gone into finals at both world championships and the Olympics.

The Chinese Swimming Federation was flaunting its complete disregard of FINA and WADA by taking DR. Ba Zhen – who gave Sun trimetazidine- who was banned for one year to the Asian Games where he was on pool deck for the whole world to see.

Also interestingly, Sun Yang seemingly has not been impacted at all by his heart condition for which he took trimetazidine for years since he has stopped taking trimetazidine.
You would think he’d died or at least sick from his chronic heart condition and continued training as an elite swimmer.

Riiiiiigghhhhhttttt.

Sam,

Trimetazidine has NOT been removed from WADA prohibited list.

In fact, it is made even MORE prohibited by putting it under PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES, which means there is no exemption under TUE.

I already wrote two replies before with links to WADA, but my comments are awaiting moderation.

Sam,

You are completely wrong.
In fact, trimetazidine has been UPGRADED from prohibited list with TUE (therapeutic use exemption) to “PROHOBITED AT ALL TIMES”.
Just check out WADA website.

WADA has recognized the widespread abuse of trimetazidine among endurance sports.

By the way,
1. If Sun Yang had chronic angina and heart condition and had to depend on trimetazidine for years, why has he not been dead now that he’s not taking trimetazidine anymore?
2. Don’t believe everything the Chinese government or media tells you.
3. Are you working for Chinese swimming federation?

trimetazidine has been removed from WADA ban-list. It was added to the list simply because its chemical structure is similar to certain banned substance. If you have studied organic chemistry or toxicology, two chemicals with similar structures can behave very differently or have very different toxicity. Does it really make sense to you that he would intent to cheat with a substance that has never been proven to enhance performance?

Ok. Maurice Greene and Nesta Carter didn’t have doping problems and ran under 9.80.
I was too nasty.
But Gay, Powell, Johnson and Gatlin all have been caught.
