JOB DESCRIPTION:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

Part-Time Assistant Swim Coach

SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Head Swim Coach, the Part-Time Assistant Swim Coach works in conjunction with the Head Coach to effectively run Colorado Mesa University’s men’s and women’s swim teams.

Some of the assistant coach’s essential duties and responsibilities include:

Assist the head coach with on and off-deck coaching of team, including practice planning and implementation.
Track team stats, records, and test sets.
Update social media contacts in accordance with University policies.
Assist the head coach with providing academic support for current student-athletes, to include monitoring study halls, monitoring students’ academic status and having meetings with student-athlete as necessary, and class checking.
Coordinate initial recruiting contacts and arrange recruiting visits both on and off campus. Other recruiting duties include database management, correspondence, and making additional phone calls as needed.
Coordinate travel planning and development to assist the head coach with team travel.
Assist the head coach with fundraising and solicitation of gifts within the framework of the overall athletic department fundraising and development program.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree
Coaching experience
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent computer and organizational skills
Knowledge of social media
Ability to work weekends
CPR/First Aid Certification
Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules
Ability to meet responsibilities of position

Colorado Mesa University is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have a demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of access and success for underrepresented students within higher education.

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Part-time, nine-month position with the potential for 11 months of employment by working summer camps.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
