Swim Job: Miami Country Day School seeks Head Age Group Coach

JOB DESCRIPTION

Miami Country Day School seeks an enthusiastic and committed person to fill the role of Aquatics Head Age Group Coach to begin immediately. Miami Country Day School is a college preparatory learning community committed to educating the whole child. Miami Country Day School is well-respected in our community and nationally. The school is accredited by FKC, FCIS and SACS; active membership is maintained in SACAC, NACAC, NAIS, SAIS, CASE, CRIS, ERB, American Library Association and the College Board.

The Head Age Group Coach, will report to the team’s Director of Aquatics / Head Coach and will be responsible for providing assistance and direction for the coaching and management of all aspects of the Miami Country Day Aquatics Program. The MCDA Program includes, but is not limited to; USA Swim Club, USMS Team, Summer Camps, Spartan Swim School and the Interscholastic Teams.

  • Assist in the development of a successful aquatics program for the MCDS community.
  • Provide a 3 year plan to develop age group swimming for Miami Country Day Aquatics.
  • Coaching of all age group swimmers for MCDA.
  • The ability to work with the entire coaching staff to build a uniform system.
  • Introduce prospective students to our campus and staff.
  • The understanding to deal with parents on a number of levels.

Qualifications

  • MINIMUM 3 years prior coaching experiences as a USA Swimming certified coach.
  • American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 1.
  • MINIMUM Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current Red Cross Lifesaving (Safety Training for Swim Coaches) and First Aid/CPR (or equivalent).
  • Ability to pass USA Swimming background check and Athlete Protection Training and maintain.
  • USA Swimming Coach Membership in good standing throughout the duration.
  • Willingness to conduct all business following the school’s mission statement, vision statement, and philosophy.

Essential Functions and Tasks:

Job Duties will include but may not be limited to:

  • Abide by the American Swimming Coaches Association Code of Ethics, the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and MCDA policies and procedures.
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices in accordance with our curriculum and be supportive of the overall philosophy and direction of MCDA set by our Head Coach.
  • Prepare and submit swimmers’ meet entries and attend assigned swim meets.
  • Assist Head Coach with the development and implementation of parent education program. This will consist of blog posts and monthly information sessions on various topics pertaining to the sport of swimming and water polo (why meets are important, nutrition, long course vs. short course training, etc.).
  • Lead Coach for two practice groups as well as assist in other groups as per the Head Coach.
  • Attend all swim meets as scheduled by the Head Coach.
  • Communicate with parents in a fast and professional manner.
  • Lead communication role for all Age Group parents, coaches and athletes.
  • Assist in the management of Team Unify Platform.
  • Assist in Pool Rental during Holiday Training Camps.
  • Provide assistance in management of the MCDS Aquatic Center.
  • On deck coaching for club and interscholastic teams.
  • Assist in the MCDS Aquatic special training camps and unique events.
