At the end of November 2018, Swim Wales officially launched their first ever Youth Panel. The Swim Wales Youth Panel will support Swim Wales and the Volunteer Manager in the development of opportunities and experiences for Swim Wales’ youth membership; in order to help grow participation, develop and support volunteers, and engage the 3.2 million Welsh population through aquatic activities.

The group is made up of 6 talented individuals with varying abilities , their experiences range from coaching, to artistic swimming, to knowledge of the young ambassador program, to knowledge around para-swimming, and competitive swimming. These young yet inspiring individuals will help to shape the future and provide a voice for the future of welsh aquatics as it heads into a period of exciting development.

While the group is still new they have recently been working on their own codes of conduct and terms of reference in partnership with our National Volunteer and Event Manager. The future is bright for the group as they head into the New Year with exciting new projects on the horizon.

Simon Clarke, Head of Aquatic Development stated ‘’We are delighted to have recruited a group of passionate and innovative young people, to help shape the future strategy for Aquatics in Wales. The Aquatic Youth Panel, the first of its kind for Swim Wales, will be tasked with identifying Aquatic opportunities of the next generation, using innovative and inclusive ways of promoting the sport and supporting our vision of Aquatics for all, forever”.
