SwimAtlanta and South Forsyth High School senior Caroline Perry has verbally committed to Colorado State University. She is in the high school class of 2019, meaning she’ll arrive on campus next fall.
She finished 3rd at the Georgia 6-7A (big school) State Championship meet in the 100 yard backstroke last season (57.00), which is a lifetime best for her. Her best event, the 200 back, isn’t on the high school schedule, but there she has a lifetime best off 2:00.17 that was done in March of her junior year. That swim stands as her first Winter Juniors cut.
After stagnating in that 200 yard event for a few years (her previous lifetime best of 2:03.8 was done as just a freshman), she dropped more than 3 seconds as a junior. Her improvements in the 100 back have been more steady, but included a full-second drop as a junior.

Perry has also been 1:05.7 in the 100 back in long course, 2:20.9 in the 200 back in long course, and 2:23.99 in the 200 IM in long course, all done at July’s Georgia Senior State Championship meet. She finished 3rd in the 200 back.
Colorado State will graduate their top backstroker Toni Thomas (52.94/1:55.39) who placed in the top 3 at the Mountain West Conference Championships in every event she swam last season. Perry’s 200 backstroke time is faster than any other swimmer on the Rams’ roster last year, and 2nd among swimmers who will still be on the roster when she arrives (2017-2018 freshman Olivia Chatman swam 56.07 last season).
