SwimLabs Westchester is excited to announce the appointment of Michael Galindo as Aquatic Director.
Michael comes to SwimLabs Westchester following a 10-year award-winning career as a club team coach in San Diego, CA and brings with him a passion of enabling swimmers of all ages to achieve their fullest potential, a focus on high-technique instruction and a love of racing.
Michael was named San Diego’s Age Group Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2014, has coached swimmers up to the US Olympic, Paralympic and Junior National qualifier levels and has run successful learn-to-swim programs including the Michael Phelps Swim School.
Michael was captain of the University of Michigan’s swim team, where he swam for the legendary Jon Urbanchek and Bob Bowman, and swam internationally for Puerto Rico qualifying for the 2002 Pan Pacific Championships in Yokohama, Japan.
“I am very excited to be a part of what SwimLabs Westchester is bringing to the Metro New York and Southern Connecticut swim communities. As a coach, I’m aligned with their focus on helping people of all ages become safer in the water. It’s a uniquely designed facility with shallow warm-water pools and video screens where children have an easier time getting over their fears and where competitive swimmers and triathletes have six Olympic Training Center quality flumes to take advantage of. Each pool is outfitted with high-powered current generating machines, overhead and underwater HD cameras and a video-analysis software system for the swimmer and us coaches to see real-time exactly where help is needed and make quick adjustments,” says Michael.
