Last three decades me, Karnataka ne consistently quality swimmers taiyar kiye hain jo har saal kai national medals lekar aate hain.

Friday ko swimming fraternity me uss time khushi ki lahar daud gayi jab CM Siddaramaiah ne Chamarajanagar me 2 crore cost se ak new Olympic-size ka pool banane ki announcement ki. Saath hi Vidyanagar Sporting Centre me 50m ke pool ko international aquatic facility me convert karne ki announcement State me sport ke liye ak vardan ke roop me saamne aai hai.

Siddaramaiah ne Vidhana Soudha me apne state budget speech ke dauran kaha, “Bengaluru ke Vidyanagar me swimming pool ko heating (temperature control) and diving facilities provide karke international standards ke according upgrade kiya jayega.”

Unhone kaha, “Chamarajanagar me Rs. 2 crore ki cost se Olympic standard (50 m) swimming pool construct kiya jayega.

Vidyanagar me under-construction pool ka kaam lagbhag complete hone wala hai aur 25m ka warm-up pool bankar taiyar hai, wahin Chamarajanagar me banne wale pool ka kaam starting se start hoga, jahan tender bulane se pahle required land identify ki jaani hai.

Karnataka Swimming Association ke general secretary M Satish Kumar ne kaha, “Ye Karnataka swimming ke liye ak great boost hai, kyunki hamare paas state me indoor, temperature controlled facility nahi hai.”

Unhone kaha, “Ye elite swimmers ke liye training centre and poore state ke liye swimming hun ban jayega. Ye lambe time se pending tha.”

Jahan tak Chamarajanagar ka sawal hai, Karnataka Olympic Association ke President K. Govindaraj ne kaha ki district ko isliye select kiya gaya kyuki uss belt me public or professional use ke liye koi swimming infrastructure nahi hai.

Govindaraj ne kaha, “Iske alawa, Chamarajanagar mostly forested area hai, jisme tribal ki strong presence hai. Isse raw talent ko saamne laane me help milegi aur youngsters ko taiyar karne me help hogi. Ummeed hai ki hum whan se kuchh future champions dhoodh payenge.”

Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Chamarajanagar me 50m ke pool ka construction complete hone ke baad maintanence, swim programme run karne aur coach appoint karne ke liye responsible hoga.

Ab tak, Mysuru, Hubballi, Davangere, Belagavi, Shivamogga, Ballari, Chikkamangaluru, Ramanagara and Mangaluru me Olympic size ke pool hain.
