Is there ever going to be a mention of Rikako Ikee in these post-Games articles? 2 9th place relay finishes before finally making it to the final in the medley relay on the last day?
performance wise it was kind of a dud. Would have liked to have seen a feature piece on her
I was trying to keep an eye on her in those outside lanes. There was far less attention than I expected from the commentators, including Rowdy. Once Japan made the final I thought for sure NBC would show the Japanese lineup and focus on Ikee. Instead…nothing. I also thought there would be a feature on the other swimmers seeking out Ikee outside the pool. I guarantee Sjostrom and others did that, and it was emotional for both sides. In terms of her swimming the butterfly seemed less explosive and further behind the freestyle. That’s what I expected.
The horse should be the ONLY one to get a medal tbh.
Just watch the modern pentathlon showjumping if you think the rider just sits and does nothing… That was atrocious riding and no wonder there was so many falls
Peaty would win that easily – the time it takes to swim 1k is much longer than the time it takes to run 1k or bike 1k, so Peaty would be able to carve out a larger advantage on the swim than Johnson or Hoy could on the running/biking sections.
Exactly. Hence, my refusal to participate in triathlon/aquathlon/aquabike races where the swim portion is so short it won’t make a difference. 500m minimum or I’m not signing up.
