I sat down with Sam Hoover, the #7 recruit on our top 20 list for the class of 2021. He told me about the recruiting trip to NC State that included himself, David Curtiss, Aidan Hayes, and Garrett Boone, all of whom ended up committing to NC State shortly after. He also goes into detail about his North Carolina HS state meet where he went 43.1 in the 100 free, what he’s been up to during quarantine, and what it was like growing up in a UNC household.

No no no, haven’t you heard? We’re pro UVA, not pro NC State. Try and keep up. Pro NC State was like 4 years ago, now NC State swimmers are mad at us for being pro UVA.
Texas is still mad at us for being pro-Cal, as far as I can tell Cal isn’t mad at us about anything at the moment (they’re the champs, what do they have to be mad about?), and Indiana’s just mad at us about everything.
The pro UVA is self evident but, to be fair, they are a great program that is very media friendly so it makes sense – but it is ok just to accept that SwimSwam is totally in the the tank for UVA as a fact, for now. 😉
