They were candid on their thoughts of the recent news of the W&M athletic director plagiarizing Stanford’s release of cutting teams as well as W&M alleging that the cut of these female teams would be a Title IX violation. Cue the circus music….
The Titlx IX angles may create useful pressure for the women’s team, but they definitely don’t help efforts to save the men’s team. The arguments are based on *participant numbers* – so even if men’s swimming was entirely self-funding, their very existence would exacerbate the numbers issue. Men’s swimming would basically have to self-fund and also fund another new women’s team just to survive.
