SwimSwam Pulse: 44% Most Excited For Tennessee Invite

SwimSwam Pulse is a recurring feature tracking and analyzing the results of our periodic A3 Performance Polls. You can cast your vote in our newest poll on the SwimSwam homepage, about halfway down the page on the right side, or you can find the poll embedded at the bottom of this post.

Our most recent poll asked SwimSwam readers to pick the most exciting college invite of this weekend:

RESULTS

Question: Which NCAA invite are you most excited for?

  • Tennessee Invite (Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, Georgia) – 44.1%
  • Art Adamson Invite (Stanford, USC, Texas A&M) – 25.3%
  • Wolfpack Invite (NC St., Auburn, Arizona St., Wisconsin) – 14.8%
  • Georgia Tech Invite (Florida, Alabama) – 9.6%
  • Ohio State Invite (Kentucky, Ohio St., Notre Dame) – 6.2%

Almost half of voters were most excited for the Tennessee Invite. That was a fairly expected outcome. The Tennessee meet has the most ranked programs competing (8 between men’s and women’s programs), and also has the most top-10 programs competing (4 overall), compared to the other invites this weekend.

The Tennessee meet also features Virginia, one of the fast-rising programs that has captivated a lot of fans. Their stellar freshman classes have a lot of room for breakout swims this weekend, which adds to the excitement factor. Indiana is also competing at that meet with a number of key freshman, and the meet also features SEC powers Tennessee and Georgia.

The Art Adamson Invite came solidly second in our poll. That’s probably a better meet on the women’s side than the men’s – the defending NCAA champion Stanford women are competing, and the host Aggies always seem to train up an unknown swimmer to breakout status every few years.

The Wolfpack Invite has the exciting NC State programs, but less depth, especially on the men’s side. That meet does include returning NCAA Swimmer of the Year Beata Nelson of Wisconsin, though. Georgia Tech’s invite only got 9% of the votes, and the Ohio State Invite 6.2%.
