Here we go! Long course season is upon us. There were a few end-of-short-course-season meets this past weekend, plus several states are still in high school season so we haven’t quite seen the end of SCY results, but for the most part it’s time for LCM swimming. Read below to find out who made the WWAGS Daring Dozen for the weekend of April 11-13, 2014.

Alexander Riedel, 11, Monocacy Aquatic Club: 1500 free (19:00.31) – Riedel dropped a ton of time in a ton of events at the Chesapeake Bay Aquatic Club’s Spring LC Meet, but nothing quite like his 75-second improvement in the 1500.

Moreover he won the 100 free (no meet record) and came in under the previous meet record time with his second-place finishes in the 200 back and 400 IM.

Special thanks to Lyle Campbell for his assistance in putting this list together.
Does anybody know why so many of these kids are unattached? I’m just wondering, are there benefits to not swimming with a club when you are this fast? And by the way, these swimmers are amazing.
ozswim – they are likely switching clubs. Most swimmers are not intentionally unattached, but the USA Swimming rules mandates you be unattached for a certain period of time after switching clubs.
Ok! Thank you!
This week was particular. Three of the “Unattached” were swimming in international championships, representing clubs from other countries. For USA Swimming purposes their swims were unattached, although their times counted. I mentioned their USA Swimming club in the body of the paragraph.
In addition, kids swimming for high school teams are “Unattached” in the USA Swimming database for the duration of high school competition season. Any swims coming from 14-18 year-olds in California right now fall into that category.
There’s the Australia Nationals in Sydney going on right now with big names like Kyle Charmers. He went under 50 in the 100 meter free as a 15 year old boy. There’s lot of fast times that you should take a look at.
It’s so cool that the article mentions Noelle Kaufmann and Tyler Hill. I was at the Boys and Girls Club meet from Friday-Sunday. I swam on the New England Team.
I suggest you look at the times being swum down under, keep hearing about kyle Chalmers but there is just a stockpile of amazing swims. Look out for the 12-13 yo Boys as a stand out!
