The WWAGS staff has been preoccupied with the California high school championship season recently and as a consequence we are running about a week behind schedule. Here, then, are some great swims that took place over the weekend of May 9-12, 2014.
Parker Nolan, 11, Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club: 50m free (28.76) – Nolan took two seconds off his personal best in the 50 free at Westmont Swim Club’s Dive Into Summer meet. He also left the meet with best times in the 100 free, 100 back, and 50/100 fly.
Mason Schoof, 13, Schroeder YMCA Swim Team: 100m free (56.97) – Swimming at Boilermaker Aquatics’ Early Bird Senior Invitational, Schoof dropped 2 seconds off his best 100 free. He ended the weekend with best times in the 50/100/200 free, 100 back, and 200 fly.
Aidan Pastel, 16, San Clemente Aquatic Team: 200y free (1:39.03) – Representing San Clemente High School at the Sea View League Championships, Pastel won the 200 free by nearly 3 seconds. His time was a personal best by a second, and was about 4.5 faster than a year ago.
Miranda Heckman, 12, Pleasanton Seahawks: 400m free (4:37.34) – Heckman won the girls 11-12 400 free at an age group meet hosted by Ellis Aquatics. She also won the 50/100/200 free, 50/200 back, and 200 IM.
Zach Yeadon, 14, Alamo Area Aquatic Association: 800m free (8:47.89) – Yeadon picked up best times in the 50/200/400/800 free at the AAAA Senior Series II 13 & Over meet in San Antonio. Altogether he dropped a combined 20.5 seconds in those four events.
Jack Little, 13, Jonesboro ‘Jets’ Swim Team: 1500m free (17:43.56) – At the Spring Splash Invitational hosted by Arkansas Dolphin-Laser Swim Team, Little dropped 30 seconds in the 1500 and finished second. He also achieved lifetime bests in the 50/200/400 free, 100 back, 200 fly, and 400 IM, improving by a combined 20.5 seconds.
Brett Feyerick, 11, Nation’s Capital Swim Club: 100 back (1:11.46) – Feyerick won the boys 12 & under 50/100/200 back at the Machine Long Course Classic meet. He went best times in the 100 free, 100/200 back, 50 breast, and 50 fly at the meet.
Trent Pellini, 15, Dolphin Aquatics: 100y breast (56.82) – A freshman at Dana Hills High School swimming in the Sea View League championship meet, Pellini achieved his first national time standard with a 56.82 in the 100 breast. It was his best time by 3 seconds.
Mary Jania, 12, St Charles Swim Team: 200m breast (2:50.80) – Jania had a great 200 breast at the Lake Central Barracudas “Making Waves” Invitational. It was her best time by nearly six seconds, and ten seconds faster than a year ago.
Andrew Dai, 11, Wheaton Swim Club: 100m fly (1:09.96) – Dai won the 50 breast, and 50/100 fly at Westmont Swim Club’s Dive Into Summer meet. Not only was it his first time under 1:10, but Dai’s 100 fly was his best-ever swim by nearly four seconds. In fact he was nine seconds faster than he was at the same meet last year.
Nora Deleske, 15, Golden West Swim Club: 200 IM (2:02.52) – A freshman at Edison High School, Deleske won the 200 IM in the Sunset League championships with a time that was her best by a second. She also won the 100 breast, again with a personal best.

Will Hofstadter, 16, JCC Waves, had the fastest relay leg(19.94) across all divisions in all of California at the state championship meets. Only one other swimmer broke 20 seconds.
