Switzerland has announced a roster of 21 swimmers for the European Championships beginning Monday in London. The Swiss squad includes 7 women and 14 men. Their roster is as follows:
Women: Noemi Girardet, Lisa Mamié, Svenja Stoffel, Sasha Touretski, Maria Ugolkova, Martina van Berkel and Danielle Villars.
Men: Jolann Bovey, Jérémy Desplanches, Alexandre Haldemann, Yannick Käser, Nils Liess, Thomas Liess, Thomas Maurer, Luca Pfyffer, Aleksi Schmid, Patrik Schwarzenbach, Martin Schweizer, Tim Slanschek, Eric van Dooren and Nico van Duijn.
Jérémy Desplanches was the top performer among the men at last summers World Championships, earning a second swim in the 200 IM placing 12th in the semi-finals. Among the women Martina van Berkel had the best performance just missing a second swim in the 200 fly placing 17th.
They also announced four coaches for the meet: Nicola Cassio, Luka Gabrilo, Pablo Kutscher and Dirk Reinicke.
The release from Swiss Swimming also noted that Liechtenstein will send two swimmers to the meet: Julia Hassler and Christoph Meier. Both competed at the World Championships last summer, with Hassler placing 16th in the 1500 free and Meier 30th in both the 200 and 400 IM.
