Sycerika McMahon Dominates first two days of the Dave McCullagh Memorial

Olympian Sycerika McMahon has dominated her competition by winning in six events in the first two days of the Dave McCullagh Memorial Meet  in Limerick.

On day one McMahon won the 100 freestyle (57.45), 200 butterfly (2:18.79), 100 breaststroke (1:12.42) and 400 IM (4:55.53). She followed that up by winning the 200 freestyle (2:03.41), 800 freestyle (8:58.54) and 200 breaststroke (2:34.32) on day number two.

12 year old Antoinette Neamt was very impressive finishing just behind McMahon in the 800 freestyle swimming a 9:00.65.

The UCD women lowered the Irish record in the 4 x 100 freestyle by three seconds, posting a time of 3:56.77.

On the men’s side Barry Murphy won the 100 breaststroke on the first day of the competition in a time of 1:05.62 and followed that up by winning the 50 butterfly on the second day, posting a time of 24.99.

Brendan Hyland won the 200 butterfly on first day recording a time of 2:01.91 and placed second in the 50 butterfly tying an Irish Junior record finishing in a time of 25.23

Brian O’Sullivan also won multiple events taking home gold in the 50 backstroke (27.36) and the 200 freestyle (1:54.21).
